Part-time live-in special needs nanny needed for a professional family in Fairfield CT with 2 children, ages 9 years and 11 years old (note: 11 year old has special needs - experience with special needs persons preferred but not required)
Location: Fairfield, CT
Compensation: $30-$35 per hour
Schedule:
Monday: 3:00pm-9:00pm
Tuesday: Off
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: Off
Friday: 3:00pm - 9:00pm
Saturday 2:00pm - 8:00pm
Sunday 7:00am - 2:00pm
Additional shifts during the week may be available as desired, as weekday caregivers often call out
Total hours: 25 hours per week
Start Date: As soon as they find the right fit
Live-in Accommodations: Basement apartment with windows and French glass doors out to the backyard and pool. Equipped with a mini kitchen, bedroom, and full bathroom. If nanny prefers, she could also choose to sleep in upstairs bedroom between 11 year old’s room and the master bedroom. Once “in-law” apartment construction is complete in December 2026, nanny will have an apartment with its own entrance.

Responsibilities:
Special needs experience desired: Experience with autistic non-verbal children/people would be ideal. Child does not always sleep through the night, so ideal candidate will be open to doing middle of the night shift if/when needed (and compensation will be provided for any nighttime hours worked or scheduled hours would be offset if preferred)
Prepare healthy meals for the children (family is working to get 11 year old off of sugar, pasta, and bread)
Swim supervision (strong swimmer required - family has a pool, 2 shallow ponds, and a hot tub on property)
Drive the children to and from appointments and activities (vehicle provided for on-the-job use)
Laundry for the children
Errands for the family, including grocery shopping
Willing to learn the Behavioral Therapist’s methods and do ongoing training as 11 year-old’s needs change
Open to learning new methods of communication ideal (ex. iPad communication devices (“Talkers”), spelling boards, and visual schedules), as 11 year-old is non-verbal (cannot read, write, or speak)
Must-haves:
Minimum 3-5 years of childcare experience
Willing to work alongside mother, who is the 11 year-old’s special needs advocate
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Confident swimmer
CPR/First Aid certified
Overnight flexibility preferred
Willingness to learn on-the-job
Kindness, patience
Agency Requirements:
Intent to make a long-term commitment to a role
Willing to be paid via payroll
Candidates should have a valid US driver’s license and have a clean driving record
21+ years of age
Current CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to become certified/renew certification upon hire
Minimum of a high-school diploma
Willing to participate in a criminal background check and social media check
Legally authorized to work in the US
Have a relevant job history with outstanding references
